Released through Silvertone Records and produced by John Leckie, the album became one of the defining British indie records of the late 1980s and a major influence on the alternative rock and Britpop movements that followed.
Featuring I Wanna Be Adored, She Bangs the Drums, Waterfall, Made of Stone and I Am the Resurrection, the album brings together jangling guitars, psychedelic colour, dance-influenced rhythm and Ian Brown’s understated vocal delivery. It remains one of the most celebrated British debut albums of its era.
