About the album.

Dopamine Chamber is the fifth studio album from Dublin alternative rock and post-punk band Fontaines D.C., produced by James Ford, who also produced 2024's Romance. The band describe it as a decisive move away from the guitar language of their early records toward something colder, stranger and more synthetic, asking how pleasure changes under pressure in a world tipping towards collapse. The title comes from the idea of the record as a room the listener enters. As Grian Chatten puts it, the album is itself a dopamine chamber, and stepping inside means having mood-altering pieces of music tested on you. Chatten has said he wrote it after time spent in Venice, Vienna and Sicily, and has described the record as more corrupted than Romance, closer to a catastrophic warning. Lead single Marianne arrived with a video directed by Dave Meyers, and was debuted live alongside Six Shot Morning at the band's summer shows in Cádiz.
