'Loved' opens on fuzzy synths and an easy drum groove, a woozy, chorused guitar drifting over the top before a scatter of voices closes it out. 'Gliding Through Everything' starts in chiming bells and swells into a slow, rolling surge. 'Daydream Repeat' hits with a burst of distortion, then flips into bright harp over a rubbery bass. 'Skater' leans into shoegaze, with hazy underwater guitars over deep sub-bass. '31 Bloom' strips things down to dark, echoing stabs and soft toms. This is the quieter side of the club. Then 'Three Drums' builds its loop until the synths distort into a roar, strings and flute rising through the noise.

About the album.

Three is the twelfth studio album from Four Tet, the alias of British producer Kieran Hebden. It moves between downtempo, house and shoegaze-tinged electronica. Released on 15 March 2024 through Hebden's own Text Records, it was his first full-length in over three years after 2020's Parallel. In between came a run of high-profile collaborations with Skrillex and Fred again.., including their joint headline set at Coachella in 2023. Written and produced by Hebden, the album runs to eight tracks and around 45 minutes. 'Three Drums' came first in April 2023, followed by 'Loved' in January 2024 and 'Daydream Repeat' the following month. The opening track 'Loved' was the final piece to fall into place, written after Caribou and Floating Points gave Hebden a new synthesiser. The album topped the UK Dance Albums Chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, with 'Loved' also nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. This Text Records pressing presents the album on a single LP, cut by Matt Colton at Metropolis. It sits naturally beside Floating Points, Caribou and the earlier Four Tet records it often calls back to.
