The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (Vinyl LP)
Black Vinyl • Debut Album
The Stone Roses still sounds like it is walking into the room with complete belief. The guitars shimmer. The rhythm section swings. Ian Brown barely raises his voice, but the whole thing carries a ridiculous amount of confidence. It is loose, bright, arrogant and completely magnetic. This is where indie rock, psychedelia, Manchester attitude and dance-floor lift all start leaning into each other. I Wanna Be Adored opens the door. She Bangs the Drums lets the light in. I Am the Resurrection refuses to leave quietly. A debut with no small gestures. Baggy before the word became shorthand. Timeless before anyone had caught up.

About the album.
The Stone Roses is the 1989 debut from the Manchester band, a landmark of British indie that fused jangling sixties guitar pop with the loose, danceable rhythms of the city's club scene. Released on Silvertone on 2 May 1989, it was recorded mostly at Battery Studios in London with producer John Leckie between June 1988 and February 1989, with further sessions at Konk and Rockfield. Ian Brown's voice, John Squire's chiming guitar, Mani's melodic bass and Reni's swinging drums made them the defining band of the Madchester scene, and writers Sean Sennett and Simon Groth credit the album with building a template for Britpop. It was a slow burn at first, entering the UK chart at No. 32 and climbing to No. 19 in early 1990, but its standing has only grown since, and it is now regularly ranked among the greatest albums ever made. Squire painted the cover, a Jackson Pollock-influenced piece called Bye Bye Badman that nods to the Paris riots of May 1968. This Silvertone vinyl reissue recreates the raised gold lettering of the UK first pressing and adds a printed inner sleeve of Squire's artwork and band photographs. For the singles and B-sides that didn't make the album, Turns Into Stone is the natural companion.
