The Stone Roses - Turns Into Stone (Vinyl 2LP)

Turns Into Stone gathers the non-album singles, B-sides and extended versions the Stone Roses recorded between 1988 and 1990, none of which appeared on the original UK edition of their 1989 debut. Silvertone issued it in July 1992, during the long legal dispute that kept the band from releasing new material, and it reached number 32 on the UK albums chart. The title is drawn from the closing lines of One Love. Eleven tracks in all, including the full-length Fools Gold, plus One Love, Elephant Stone and What The World Is Waiting For alongside B-sides such as Mersey Paradise, Standing Here and Where Angels Play. Ian Brown sings, John Squire plays guitar, Mani plays bass, and Reni drums and sings backing vocals, with every song written by Brown and Squire. Peter Hook produced Elephant Stone and The Hardest Thing In The World, John Leckie mixed the former and produced everything from Mersey Paradise onwards, and Going Down is credited to The Garage Flowers. The sleeve art is a painting by John Squire. This 2025 Silvertone and Sony edition carries the 2009 John Leckie remaster and spreads the eleven tracks across four sides, where the 1992 original squeezed them onto a single LP.
