About the album.

Amnesiac is Radiohead's fifth studio album, an alternative rock and electronic record released in June 2001. It came out of the same sessions as Kid A, with the band splitting the work across two records rather than issuing it as a double album. Everything here was recorded alongside its predecessor with producer Nigel Godrich, except for one track. Life In A Glasshouse was cut afterwards with the Humphrey Lyttelton Band and closes the album on trad jazz brass, clarinet and double bass. Pyramid Song and Knives Out were released as singles. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and number two on the Billboard 200, and it was shortlisted for the 2001 Mercury Prize. At the 44th Grammy Awards in 2002, it was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, and its special limited edition packaging won Best Recording Package. Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke (credited as Tchocky) designed the artwork. Rolling Stone placed the album at number 320 in its 2012 revision of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Its experimental streak runs through the whole record, from processed vocals and drum programming to the jazz arrangement at the close. This XL Recordings edition spreads the record across two 12-inch discs cut at 45 RPM, in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves.
