About the album.

Texas Moon is the second collaborative EP from Houston trio Khruangbin and Fort Worth singer Leon Bridges, a slow-burning soul record steeped in psychedelia, released in February 2022. It picks up where 2020's Texas Sun left off, the pair's first joint EP, across five tracks and just over 22 minutes.

Khruangbin produced it with Steve Christensen, who also recorded and mixed the sessions at Terminal C, with Chris Longwood mastering. Laura Lee plays bass, Mark Speer handles guitar, Hammond organ and percussion, and Donald Johnson Jr. drums, while Leon Bridges sings lead on all five tracks. Will Van Horn's pedal steel runs through most of the record, and Charlie Perez adds congas and bongos to 'B-Side', the lead single and a sister song to Texas Sun's 'C-Side'.

Released on Dead Oceans in partnership with Columbia and Night Time Stories, it blends soul, country rock and Khruangbin's hazy psychedelia, with 'Father Father' reaching back to the gospel roots both acts share. The songs are credited jointly to the band and Bridges, with Austin Jenkins co-writing 'Doris' and 'Chocolate Hills'.

This black vinyl edition plays at 33 rpm and comes with a digital download voucher. Texas Sun is the natural companion piece, while Khruangbin's Mordechai and Leon Bridges' debut, Coming Home, are strong next steps into each side of the partnership.
