About the album.

The Other Side of Make-Believe is the seventh studio album from New York post-punk band Interpol, released on Matador Records in July 2022. The trio of Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino began writing the record remotely across 2020, with Banks spending lockdown in Edinburgh and building vocal ideas around demos Kessler emailed over. In 2021, the band reconvened at a rented house in the Catskills in upstate New York to work the songs up in person, then recorded the album at Battery Studios in North London.

The record was produced by Flood, working with the band for the first time, and mixed by longtime collaborator Alan Moulder, who also contributed additional production. Between them, the pair's credits include Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins. The result is a more spacious and measured alternative rock record than the band's early work, with a piano motif at the core of lead single 'Toni' and a lyrical lean toward hope rather than dread. 'Something Changed', 'Fables' and 'Gran Hotel' followed as singles.

This pressing was manufactured by Optimal Media, mastered at Sterling Sound by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone, and housed in a matte sleeve with a printed lyric inner sleeve.

For anyone new to Interpol, 2002 debut Turn On The Bright Lights is where the story starts, while 2018's Marauder is the album that came directly before this one.
