About the album.

Pocket Symphony is the fourth studio album from French duo Air, a hushed record of electronic and ambient pop released on 5 March 2007. Nicolas Godin and JB Dunckel made it with long-time collaborator Nigel Godrich producing.

Godin had recently learned the koto and the three-string shamisen from an Okinawan master musician, and both instruments run through the album alongside piano, Rhodes, vibraphone and vintage synthesisers. Joby Talbot arranged the strings on 'Space Maker' and 'Night Sight', and Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen plays on 'Once Upon a Time'.

Two guests step up to the microphone. Jarvis Cocker sings and wrote the lyrics for 'One Hell of a Party', and Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy sings 'Somewhere Between Waking and Sleeping'.

'Once Upon a Time' and 'Mer du Japon' were released as singles. The album reached number 22 in the UK and topped Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart in the US.

This 2026 reissue presents the twelve tracks across two LPs on ultra-clear vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve.

For listeners who know Air through Moon Safari, Pocket Symphony is the quieter, late-night companion.
