Released in 2013, AM marked a decisive shift for Arctic Monkeys. Produced by James Ford with input from Josh Homme, the album leans into space and repetition, built around thick, low-slung guitar lines and tightly structured rhythms.

The record moves at its own pace. “Do I Wanna Know?”, “R U Mine?” and “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” pair minimal arrangements with sharp, memorable hooks. The confidence lies in what’s held back as much as what’s played.

Rather than pushing for momentum, AM settles into a late-night atmosphere, darker and more controlled than the band’s early work. On vinyl, the weight of the bass and the clarity of the production come through with particular depth, making it one of the most enduring alternative albums of its era.
