Produced by Mering and Jonathan Rado (Foxygen), the album is built from chamber pop, folk rock, and orchestral arrangements by Drew Erickson, lush but never overwrought, nostalgic in sound but entirely contemporary in theme. Released on Sub Pop in November 2022 to universal critical acclaim, it debuted on the US Billboard 200 and reached No. 27 in the UK.
