About the album.

Radio Retaliation is the fifth studio album from Washington, D.C. electronic duo Thievery Corporation. It is a trip hop and downtempo record that pushes the pair's dub-rooted, globally minded sound towards open political statement. It was originally released in September 2008 on ESL Music and recorded in their home city between April 2007 and August 2008. Eric Hilton and Rob Garza produced the album themselves and brought in a wide cast of guests, including Femi Kuti, Seu Jorge, Anoushka Shankar, Chuck Brown and Sleepy Wonder, alongside LouLou and Verny Varela. The music moves between reggae, Afrobeat, Brazilian rhythm, Indian classical colour and the go-go sound of their hometown. Shankar plays sitar on 'Mandala' and Brown appears on 'The Numbers Game'. The singles 'Sound The Alarm', '(The Forgotten People)' and 'Sweet Tides' all feature. This 2026 Primary Wave Music reissue returns the album to vinyl as a double LP across four sides, with a bonus track, 'Philosopher's Stone', closing side D. It suits listeners who came to downtempo electronica through Massive Attack, Kruder & Dorfmeister or the wider Eighteenth Street Lounge catalogue, and anyone who prefers their grooves with something to say.
