About the album.

Originally released in 1986, The Queen Is Dead is the third studio album from The Smiths and one of the defining alternative guitar records of the 1980s.

Produced by Morrissey and Johnny Marr, the album captures the band at their most complete. Marr’s guitar work moves from bright, ringing pop to darker, more cinematic textures, while Morrissey’s lyrics balance wit, melancholy, social observation and romantic fatalism.

The album includes some of The Smiths’ most enduring songs, including Bigmouth Strikes Again, The Boy With the Thorn in His Side, There Is a Light That Never Goes Out and the title track.

It remains a cornerstone record for indie, alternative and British guitar music.
