About the album.

Lacuna is the twenty-eighth studio album from The Church, the Australian band that has been folding alternative rock into post-punk, jangle and dream pop since 1980. It was recorded in Austin, Texas, in 2024 and runs to seventeen tracks across two LPs. Steve Kilbey has described the album as intense, forlorn and exultant, and has spoken about the guitar parts working against each other, the reprises and codas, and the layers of atmosphere sitting under them. The single "Western" came directly out of the Texas sessions, and Kilbey has pointed to its six-string bass counter riffs and called the song breezy and uncomplicated. It arrived paired with "Martian Skyline", both following "Sacred Echoes (Part Two)", which was released earlier. The album follows 2023's The Hypnogogue and 2024's Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars. This is the Australian-exclusive white vinyl pressing.
