Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque
Transparent Yellow • Remastered
1991. Nirvana broke the world. Spin gave Album of the Year to these guys instead. Bold call. Right call. Fuzz pedal worship, Big Star DNA, pop songs buried under all that noise. "Star Sign" still hits. "The Concept" still hits. Slacker on the surface, sharp as hell underneath. One of those records that sounds better every decade.

About the album.
Bandwagonesque, released in November 1991 on Creation Records, was Teenage Fanclub's commercial and critical breakthrough. Built on Big Star and Alex Chilton worship but never derivative, the album paired heavy distortion with melodies that wouldn't quit. "Star Sign" reached number four on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, the band's biggest US hit, while "What You Do to Me" and "The Concept" also charted in the top 20. Spin magazine's decision to name it Album of the Year over Nirvana's Nevermind remains one of the most debated calls in music journalism, and three decades on, the album holds up as one of the defining records of the era. This pressing is the 2023 National Album Day reissue on transparent yellow vinyl.
