Talk Talk - The Colour Of Spring (Vinyl LP 180g - Half Speed Master)
180g Vinyl • Half-Speed Master • 40th Anniversary Edition
Happiness Is Easy opens on a loose shuffle with a children's choir arriving from somewhere off to the side. Life's What You Make It rides one piano figure hammered flat while the guitar tears open above it. Everywhere else the arrangements are built from acoustic instruments and empty space, the synth-pop textures of the earlier records set aside. April 5th thins to an acoustic guitar, a held organ note and a great deal of air. Chameleon Day is a voice and a single reedy keyboard, barely a song at all. Living In Another World runs on harmonica and a bassline that keeps stepping downward. Time It's Time builds across eight minutes and then hands the last of it back to the choir, fading out on voices.

About the album.
The Colour Of Spring is Talk Talk's third studio album, an art rock and alternative record originally released in February 1986 and reissued here for its fortieth anniversary. It marked the band's move away from the synth-pop of The Party's Over and It's My Life toward the acoustic, improvisation-led approach that would define Spirit Of Eden. Mark Hollis and producer Tim Friese-Greene wrote through the first months of 1985 before the band joined them for sessions that ran across the following year. It reached number eight on the UK Albums Chart and became the band's biggest-selling studio album, carried by Life's What You Make It and Living In Another World. Matt Colton cut this edition at half speed at Metropolis Studios, overseen by drummer Lee Harris and Charlie Hollis, and pressed it on 180g vinyl.
