About the album.

Released in 1992, Rage Against the Machine is the debut album from Rage Against the Machine, combining heavy guitar-driven instrumentation with elements of hip hop and funk.

Built around the playing of Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk, the record leans on tight rhythmic structure and minimal overdubbing, giving the songs a raw, immediate feel. Zack de la Rocha delivers vocals with a spoken, rhythmic intensity that sits closer to rap than traditional rock phrasing.

Tracks like Killing in the Name, Bullet in the Head and Bombtrack define the album’s approach, built on repetition, groove and escalation rather than complexity.

The cover image, taken from the self-immolation of Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thích Quảng Đức, reinforces the album’s confrontational tone and political stance.

It doesn’t ease off.
And never tries to.
