About the album.
Originally released on 13 March 1995, The Bends is Radiohead’s second studio album. Released through Parlophone in the UK and Capitol in the US, the album marked a major creative leap from Pablo Honey and helped establish Radiohead as one of the defining alternative rock bands of the 1990s.
Produced by John Leckie, with additional production from Radiohead, Nigel Godrich and Jim Warren, the album sharpened the band’s guitar-driven sound while opening the door to the tension, atmosphere and emotional weight that would shape their later work.
Featuring Planet Telex, The Bends, High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Just, My Iron Lung and Street Spirit (Fade Out), the album balances anthemic 90s guitar rock with something colder, stranger and more searching.
The Bends remains one of Radiohead’s most immediate records and a crucial step toward the more ambitious world of OK Computer.
