Oneohtrix Point Never - R Plus Seven (Vinyl 2LP)
2LP • Matte Gatefold • Download Card
Boring Angel opens on an organ figure that keeps restarting before it finishes. Americans drops choral samples in one at a time, each cut short at the vowel. Nothing is allowed to develop for long here, textures replaced wholesale rather than blended, the joins left audible. Zebra moves in blocks this way, one sound displacing the next without warning. Problem Areas is built from stabs and silence in roughly equal measure. Chrome Country ends on a church organ that arrives from nowhere and simply holds.

About the album.
R Plus Seven is Oneohtrix Point Never's sixth album, an electronic and ambient record released on Warp in September 2013 and Daniel Lopatin's first for the label. Where his earlier work leaned on analogue synthesisers and sampled lo-fi sources, this one is built largely from MIDI instruments, 1980s synth presets and software plugins, with choral and organ patches recurring throughout. Lopatin produced and mixed it with Paul Corley at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland, and Valgeir Sigurðsson mastered it. The cover is taken from George Schwizgebel's 1982 animated film Le ravissement de Frank N. Stein, with additional artwork by Robert Beatty. The album was widely acclaimed and appeared on numerous 2013 year-end lists. This pressing is a double LP in a matte gatefold sleeve with a download card.
