About the album.
Released in 2022, Changes is one of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s most considered and groove-led records. Built around a long-running musical idea the band had been shaping for years, the album trades some of their usual maximalist rush for a more fluid blend of psych, jazz, funk, soul and soft-focus pop.
It is still unmistakably King Gizzard: curious, rhythmically playful and impossible to pin down. But Changes moves with a different kind of energy. Less explosion, more drift. Less chaos, more control. The result is a warm, strange and highly replayable record that shows another side of the band’s restless catalogue.
