2LP • Black Vinyl • Debut Album
Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen, splitting the difference between piano and pulse. Strings and synths in the same room. Live drums next to drum machines. Eight tracks that take their time, never raise their voice. "Burnt" closes it out, quiet and certain.

About the album.
Kiasmos is the 2014 self-titled debut from the Icelandic-Faroese duo of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen, recorded at Arnalds' newly built studio in Reykjavík. The pair spent the year exploring the space between Arnalds' acoustic, piano-based solo work and Rasmussen's synth-driven electro pop, recording most of the album with acoustic instruments alongside synthesisers, drum machines, and tape delays. The result features a live drummer and string quartet alongside Arnalds on grand piano, producing a sound built for close, attentive listening as much as movement. The album received widespread critical acclaim on release and remains a defining record in modern electronic music, blending classical instrumentation with dancefloor production in a way few acts have matched since.
