About the album.
Released in 1967, Are You Experienced is the debut studio album from The Jimi Hendrix Experience and is widely regarded as one of the greatest debut albums in rock history. Recorded in London after Chas Chandler brought Hendrix over from New York, it introduced a revolutionary approach to the electric guitar that reshaped psychedelic rock, hard rock and everything that followed.
The trio of Hendrix, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding moved effortlessly from the raw aggression of Foxy Lady and Manic Depression to the jazz-tinged sprawl of Third Stone from the Sun and the aching restraint of The Wind Cries Mary. This expanded 2LP edition collects the full album alongside the era's standalone singles, Hey Joe, Purple Haze, Stone Free, 51st Anniversary and Highway Chile, capturing the complete first chapter of the Hendrix story.
