About the album.
Come Around and Love Me is the debut album by Jalen Ngonda, born in Wheaton, Maryland and living in England since he moved to Liverpool in 2014 to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. He is now based in London. Daptone released his first single for the label in 2022, a 7 inch pairing "What a Difference She Made" with "Just Like You Used To", both written with Sam Knowles and both included here. The album was recorded and mixed at Hive Mind Recording in Brooklyn, produced by Michael Buckley and Vincent Chiarito, who also plays bass and engineered the sessions. Buckley wrote the string arrangements and plays vibraphone, glockenspiel, saxophone and flute. The band is Benny Trokan on guitar, Victor Axelrod on piano, Brian Wolfe on drums, Elizabeth Pupo-Walker on percussion and Liann Cline on harp, with four string players and backing vocals from Charly Kay, Kelly Wolfgramm, Kevin Keys and Saundra Williams. JJ Golden cut the lacquer and mastered it at Golden Mastering.
