Holy Holy - Paint
Transparent Coke Bottle Green • Limited Edition Reissue
Second album, no sophomore slump. Brisbane and Melbourne, a duo turned full band, Carroll's voice over Dawson's guitar, now with drums, bass, and synth filling out the corners. Songs stretch into movements instead of staying inside verses and choruses. Ambitious without losing the plot. Sounds like a band five albums deep, not two.

About the album.
Paint, released in February 2017, is Holy Holy's second studio album and the record where the band's ambitions caught up with their talent. Following extensive touring across Europe, including Primavera in Barcelona, The Great Escape in the UK, Reeperbahn in Hamburg, and London Calling in Amsterdam, the band expanded from its original duo to a full lineup, with Ryan Strathie on drums, Matt Redlich on keys and production, and Graham Ritchie on bass. The result is a panoramic record, with several songs built from multiple distinct movements rather than conventional verse-chorus structures. The album debuted at number 7 on the ARIA Charts, with "Darwinism" and "Elevator" standing out as its most accessible moments. This 2023 reissue presents the album on limited edition transparent coke bottle green vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
