Faces sets a vocal figure that returns later on Paces #1 and on People, threading the two sides together. Sampled beats and bubbling synth carry most of what follows. Field recordings of kids in a schoolyard surface between songs. Hatswing sits low and nocturnal, the guitar pushed back behind the programming. (10) passes in just over a minute. My Own Pool Of Light is an indie rock and electronic record released in August 2019, the third studio album by Holy Holy, the Australian duo of vocalist Timothy Carroll and guitarist Oscar Dawson. It was the first Holy Holy album the pair self-produced, and they built it around drum loops, sampled beats, pitch-shifted vocals and synthesisers rather than the guitar-led arrangements of their earlier records. Recurring motifs run through it, including field recordings of children in a schoolyard and a vocal pattern linking Faces, Paces #1 and People. The band described the mood as melancholic euphoria, with heavy subject matter carried on bright pop-rock momentum. It debuted and peaked at number fourteen on the ARIA Albums Chart and was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 ARIA Awards. Frida is named after Carroll's daughter. This edition is the 2023 hot pink vinyl reissue on Wonderlick, with a printed inner sleeve and a separate double-sided photo-and-credits insert.
