About the album.

Yellow House is Grizzly Bear's second album, an indie-folk-rock record first released by Warp Records in September 2006.

It was the first Grizzly Bear album made as a full four-piece, with Ed Droste, Daniel Rossen, Chris Taylor and Chris Bear, after the largely solo debut Horn of Plenty. The title refers to the house belonging to Droste's mother, where much of it was recorded. Taylor recorded and produced the album and mixed it with Chris Coady.

The arrangements reach well beyond guitars. Taylor adds clarinet, flute and saxophone, Bear plays xylophone, glockenspiel and lap steel alongside his drums, and Rossen and Droste bring banjo, piano and autoharp. Owen Pallett arranged and played strings on 'Marla'.

This 2025 reissue presses the album on cream white vinyl across two LPs, mastered at Sterling Sound, in printed inner sleeves inside a wide spine outer sleeve. It arrived alongside colour reissues of Veckatimest, Shields and Painted Ruins as the band returned to live shows for the first time in six years.

If Yellow House works for you, Veckatimest is where the band took that sound next.
