'God's A Different Sword' opens on three voices stacked close over guitar. 'Hotel TV' slows everything into a hazy, hypnotic late-night drift. 'The Actor' is the tense one, under three minutes and wound tight. 'Moth Song' is the spare centrepiece, a violin line wavering in and out around the harmonies. Harmony carries this record, and it cuts sharper than the soft sound first suggests. 'Cathode Ray' starts wary, the voices rising in long looping sighs, then the chorus opens wide over a light, airy beat.

About the album.

Now Would Be A Good Time is the debut album from Folk Bitch Trio. The Melbourne indie folk trio is Heide Peverelle, Jeanie Pilkington and Gracie Sinclair, and their songs are built around close three-part harmonies. Former high school friends, they began performing together in 2020 and signed to Jagjaguwar in 2025. The album followed on 25 July 2025. It was produced by the band with Tom Healy and recorded in Auckland at Roundhead Studios and The Lab. Anita Clark plays strings, and Alex Freer and Chris O'Connor play drums. The songs are wry and darkly funny, dealing in breakups, daydreams, sexual fantasy and the small humiliations of your early twenties. Along the way they draw on Americana, classic rock and clear-eyed balladry. All but one track are the trio's own. The exception, 'I'll Find A Way (To Carry It All)', was written by Ted Lucas. The record reached number 19 on the ARIA Albums Chart and number 34 in New Zealand. It was nominated for four ARIA Awards, including Best Group, and was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize and Triple J's Australian Album of the Year. At the 2026 AIR Awards it won Best Independent Blues and Roots Album, and the trio took Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year. 'Cathode Ray' was shortlisted for APRA Song of the Year. This edition presents the album on sky blue opaque vinyl.
