About the album.

Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You is the second studio album from American singer-songwriter Ethel Cain, a slow-burning Americana record released on her own Daughters Of Cain label in August 2025. Hayden Anhedönia, the artist behind the Ethel Cain project, wrote most of it and produced and mixed it herself, assembling it in home studios from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania to Tallahassee, Florida, with Matthew Tomasi producing 'Willoughby's Theme', mastering the record and playing guitar and drums across it. The story is a prequel to her 2022 debut, Preacher's Daughter, following Ethel's teenage romance with Willoughby Tucker, and what was first described as a companion EP grew into a full album running past 73 minutes. Alongside Americana it draws on slowcore, folk and shoegaze, with banjo, fiddle and organ colouring 'Nettles' and 'Dust Bowl' interpolating Duster's 'Stars Will Fall'. 'Nettles' and 'Fuck Me Eyes' were released as singles ahead of the album, which reached number five on the ARIA Albums Chart and number 14 on the Billboard 200, and topped the US Independent Albums chart. This European pressing spreads the record across two black LPs, giving the fifteen-minute closer 'Waco, Texas' a side of its own. Preacher's Daughter is the natural companion piece for anyone following the story backwards.
