Durand Jones & The Indications - American Love Call (Vinyl LP)
Includes Foldout Poster & Download Card • Single LP
Two lead voices trade off, one heavy in the chest, one floating an octave above. Strings sweep wide across the top, sweet and unembarrassed. Guitar chinks on the offbeat, clean and treble-heavy. Drums sit back, soft snare, plenty of room around the kick. Organ pads underneath, barely moving. Horns and flute drop in for four bars and leave. Handclaps and tambourine keep the edges bright.

About the album.
American Love Call is the second album by Durand Jones & The Indications, the Bloomington, Indiana group built around singer Durand Jones, singer and drummer Aaron Frazer, and guitarist Blake Rhein. It followed their self titled debut and was recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn with Francisco Botero engineering. Jones and Frazer split the lead vocals across the record and share several tracks between them. Steve Okonski plays organ, electric piano and acoustic piano, Kyle Houpt plays bass and lap steel, and Frazer also covers drums, percussion, guitar, omnichord and glockenspiel. The arrangements open the sound out with strings from Ginger Dolden, Pete Lanctot and Tiger Darrow, harp from Erin Hill, and horns from Chloe Rowlands on trumpet, flugelhorn and french horn, Alastair Ottesen on tenor saxophone and Patrick Sargent on alto. Paul Mahern mixed it and Chris Gehringer mastered it at Sterling Sound. It was released through Dead Oceans and Colemine Records on 1 March 2019.
