Broadcast - Tender Buttons (Vinyl LP)
Reissue • Printed Inner Sleeve
I Found The F starts on a drum machine and a single fuzzed keyboard line with no build at all. Black Cat sets a nursery rhyme melody against a guitar that keeps sliding out of tune. The title track runs on a two note bass pulse and almost nothing else. America's Boy pushes the drums to the front and lets the vocal sit flat against them. Tears In The Typing Pool strips back to an acoustic guitar and one voice. Arc Of A Journey runs past five minutes on one repeating bass figure. Michael A Grammar buries its melody under a low hum that never resolves. I Found The End returns to the opening figure and cuts it off mid phrase.

About the album.
Tender Buttons is the third and final studio album by Birmingham dream pop and electronic group Broadcast, released by Warp in September 2005. By this point, several members had departed, and the record was made largely by the core duo of Trish Keenan and James Cargill, who wrote, played, recorded, and mixed it themselves in Birmingham. It is a rawer, more stripped-back record than previous Broadcast releases, built on drum machines, fuzzed keyboards, and sparingly placed guitar. America's Boy, the lead and only single, was released a month ahead of the album and reached number 139 on the UK Singles Chart. Roj Stevens appears on Black Cat and Tim Felton on Corporeal.
Fourteen tracks run just over forty minutes. The album was received well on release, and its standing has grown since, with Pitchfork placing it seventh on a 2018 list of the thirty best dream pop albums. This Warp vinyl reissue includes a printed inner sleeve with lyrics and credits, plus a glossy front cover.
