About the album.

Post is what happens when someone stops trying to make one kind of record. Björk had moved to London, had a debut that worked, and instead of repeating it she made an album that lurches from industrial clatter to a 1950s big-band number to a whispered lullaby and treats all three as the same gesture. It shouldn't hold together. It absolutely does.

She produced it herself with a rotating cast of collaborators, Nellee Hooper, Tricky, 808 State's Graham Massey and Howie B, most of them people she'd been in the same London clubs with. Much of it was recorded at Compass Point in Nassau over late 1994 and early 1995. "Army of Me" and "The Modern Things" had been written earlier with Massey in Manchester and were already live staples, so they arrived largely intact. Eumir Deodato arranged and conducted the orchestral parts that lift "Hyperballad", "Isobel" and "You've Been Flirting Again". "It's Oh So Quiet" is the only song here she didn't write, and it became the biggest hit of her career, reaching No. 4 in the UK and No. 6 in Australia.

Released 12 June 1995 through One Little Indian, it went to No. 1 in Iceland and No. 2 in the UK, and is certified platinum in Australia, the UK, the US and Canada. Sleeve design by Me Company, cover photograph by Stéphane Sednaoui, with Björk's cover jacket designed by Hussein Chalayan.
