About the album.

Released in 2002, Sea Change marked a major shift in Beck’s catalogue, moving away from the playful cut-and-paste energy of earlier records into something much more direct, spacious and emotionally exposed. Produced by Nigel Godrich, the album leans into orchestral arrangements, slow-burning songwriting and a melancholy warmth that made it one of Beck’s most enduring records.

Featuring songs like “The Golden Age,” “Paper Tiger,” “Lost Cause” and “Guess I’m Doing Fine,” this is Beck in heartbreak mode: reflective, restrained and beautifully arranged. For Juicy, it sits comfortably in the Backbone shelf, with a slight Accent lean. It is an essential early-2000s alternative record, but one built for quieter nights, slower listening and anyone who likes their sadness with a bit of golden-hour glow.
