About the album.

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is the debut album by Sheffield indie rock band Arctic Monkeys, released on 23 January 2006 by Domino. It became the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history on release, driven by demos the band had given away at gigs and shared online before they were signed. Thirteen songs run to just over forty minutes, recorded at Chapel Studios and 2fly Studios with one track cut at Telstar Studio in Munich, and mixed at Olympic Studios. Jim Abbiss produced the album, with Alan Smyth involved on earlier sessions. It won the Mercury Prize later that year and set the template for a decade of British guitar bands. Arctic Monkeys followed it with Favourite Worst Nightmare in 2007.
