About the album.
Released in 2016, Hopelessness is the second studio album from ANOHNI and a marked departure from her earlier work. Produced in collaboration with Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never, the record shifts toward a direct and confrontational sonic palette.
The album pairs minimal, hard-edged electronic production with explicit lyrical themes, addressing surveillance, environmental collapse and geopolitical violence. Tracks such as “Drone Bomb Me” and “4 Degrees” deliver their message with clarity, placing voice and content at the centre of the compositions.
Rather than relying on ambiguity, Hopelessness operates with precision and intent, positioning it as one of the more overtly political releases in contemporary alternative music.
