Xerrox Isola runs eight minutes on one ascending figure, strings thickening layer by layer without ever resolving. Xerrox Solphaer pulls the register down after it, darker and closer to the ground. Xerrox Mesosphere and Xerrox Spark work the top end, high shimmer over a bed of crackle. Xerrox Exosphere thins everything to a single held tone and leaves it hanging.

Xerrox Vol.3 is Carsten Nicolai's eighth solo studio album as Alva Noto, an ambient and drone record, and the third chapter in his five-part Xerrox series. Originally released by Raster-Noton in 2015, it carries on the method of copying source material until the originals are unrecognisable, though this volume trades the corroded surfaces of the first two for something considerably more open and melodic. Eleven pieces run just under an hour, built around long ascending figures and slow phasing tones rather than static and interference. The album was recorded between 2008 and 2014. Xerrox Vol. 3 was followed by Vol. 4 in 2020 and Vol. 5 in 2024. This 2026 NOTON edition is a remastered reissue across two LPs in a gatefold sleeve, mixed at Studio Carsten Nicolai and mastered at Calyx Mastering.
