About the album.

Originally released on 29 April 2022, Boat Songs is the third solo album from American musician MJ Lenderman. Released through Dear Life Records, the album was recorded at Drop of Sun in Asheville, North Carolina and helped bring wider attention to Lenderman as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary alt-country and indie rock.

Featuring Hangover Game, You Have Bought Yourself a Boat, TLC Cage Match, SUV and Tastes Just Like It Costs, the album blends lo-fi indie rock, alt-country, distortion, humour and plainspoken emotional detail. It is off-kilter, melodic and full of sharp little observations that turn ordinary scenes into something strangely memorable.
