About the album.

David Bowie's fourth studio album, recorded at Trident Studios, London, in mid-1971 and released by RCA Records in December of that year, was his first for the label. Co-produced by Bowie and Ken Scott, Hunky Dory marked a decisive break from the guitar-driven hard rock of The Man Who Sold the World, shifting to piano-led art pop with Mick Ronson on guitar, Rick Wakeman on piano, Trevor Bolder on bass, and Mick Woodmansey on drums. The album peaked at No. 3 on the UK charts, though not until after the release of Ziggy Stardust in 1972. This 2015 remaster for Parlophone (part of the Five Years 1969–1973 box set) is pressed on 180g vinyl and is widely regarded as the definitive modern pressing of the record.
