About the album.

Released in 2015 via Milk! Records, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit marked a shift from promising songwriter to international voice.

Recorded in Melbourne across an intense ten-day session, the album captures a band locked in, guitars slightly frayed at the edges, rhythm section steady but never stiff, vocals delivered with conversational precision. There’s immediacy in the performances that still cuts through a decade later.

Lyrically, Barnett documents the ordinary with uncommon clarity. Suburban detail, self-doubt, dry humour, social awkwardness, all delivered without drama. That understatement is the point.

Pressed here as a 2LP on classic black vinyl, the format gives the record room to breathe across four sides, preserving its dynamic shifts and space between moments.

An Australian modern classic.
