About the album.

Originally released in 2025, Essex Honey is the fifth studio album from Blood Orange, the project of Dev Hynes. It marked his first full-length Blood Orange album since Negro Swan, following the 2022 EP Four Songs.

Written, produced and recorded by Hynes, the album features contributions from Lorde, Caroline Polachek, Daniel Caesar, Mustafa, Brendan Yates of Turnstile, Ben Watt of Everything But The Girl, Zadie Smith and others.

Centred around memory, grief and Hynes’ connection to Essex, England, Essex Honey brings together Blood Orange’s familiar mix of alternative R&B, soul, art pop and experimental textures. It is a soft, layered and deeply personal return from one of modern music’s most distinctive voices.
