Tame Impala - Currents
2LP • Black Vinyl • Gatefold Sleeve
Everything moves. Currents is built on transition. Psych rock gives way to synths, guitars dissolve into texture, and rhythm carries the weight where distortion once did. It trades impact for flow. Kevin Parker tightens the frame. Sounds are sculpted, not stretched. Even the biggest moments feel controlled, contained, deliberate. The pull is in the glide. Groove over grit. Precision over chaos. A pivot that redefined the project.

About the album.
Released in 2015, Currents is the third studio album from Tame Impala, the project of Australian musician Kevin Parker.
Written, recorded and produced by Parker, the album marks a clear shift away from the guitar-driven psychedelic rock of earlier releases toward a more synth-led, groove-focused sound. Drawing on psychedelic pop, synth-driven production and R&B-influenced rhythm, Currents explores themes of personal transformation, isolation and emotional change.
Tracks such as Let It Happen, The Less I Know the Better and Eventually anchor the record, balancing rhythmic precision with melodic depth. The production is meticulous, with layered textures, phased effects and tight low-end shaping the album’s fluid, immersive feel.
Currents debuted at number one in Australia and received widespread critical acclaim, including nominations for the ARIA Award for Album of the Year and the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. It remains a defining release of the 2010s and a pivotal moment in Parker’s evolution as a producer and songwriter.
