About the album.

Released in 2017 on Dead Oceans, Slowdive marked the band’s first studio album in over two decades. Rather than leaning into revivalism, the record reintroduced their immersive guitar textures within a more direct and contemporary framework.

Recorded in Oxfordshire and mixed at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, the album balances luminous atmosphere with structured melody. Tracks such as “Slomo” and “Sugar for the Pill” demonstrate a renewed sense of propulsion while retaining the layered, hypnotic qualities associated with the band’s earlier work.

Rather than functioning as a reunion statement, Slowdive operates as a continuation.
