About the album.

Migration is the sixth studio album from Bonobo, the producer Simon Green, released through Ninja Tune on 13 January 2017. It sits in downtempo and electronic territory but leans heavily on live players, with strings, brass, and woodwind folded into the programming, plus a piano session cut at Firehouse Recording Studios in Pasadena. Green built much of it while touring, and Ninja Tune's release copy describes found sounds worked into the production, including an elevator in Hong Kong airport, rain in Seattle, a tumble dryer in Atlanta, and a fan boat engine in New Orleans. Guest vocals come from Rhye on Break Apart, Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters on Surface, the Australian musician Nick Murphy on No Reason and the New York-based Moroccan group Innov Gnawa on Bambro Koyo Ganda. The record also samples Pete Seeger on Grains, the Canadian group Syrinx on Second Sun, Brandy on Kerala and Elkie Brooks on Figures. It reached number five on the UK Albums Chart, and Green followed it with Fragments in 2022.
