About the album.

Released in 1980, In the Flat Field is the debut album from Bauhaus and a foundational release in the development of gothic rock.

Formed in Northampton, England, the band combined elements of punk and glam with darker, more minimal arrangements, establishing a distinct and influential sound. Led by vocalist Peter Murphy, the album is driven by stark instrumentation and a focus on mood and structure over melody.

Tracks such as Double Dare, Spy in the Cab and Nerves emphasise repetition and tension, shaping a record that remains direct, uncompromising and influential.

This reissue has been remastered for vinyl, offering a refined presentation of the original recording.
