About the album.
Released in 1998, American Water is a defining album from Silver Jews, led by songwriter David Berman.
Blending indie rock with country and lo-fi influences, the album is driven by Berman’s distinct lyrical voice, balancing wit, detachment and underlying emotional weight. The arrangements remain understated, allowing the writing to take focus without excess.
This edition has been half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios, offering increased depth and clarity while preserving the character of the original recording.
