Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85–92 (Vinyl 2LP)
Double LP • Black Vinyl
Calm, but never still. Selected Ambient Works 85–92 doesn’t drift, it loops. Patterns repeat, shift slightly, then settle somewhere new. Rhythm is always there, just pulled back. It feels early, but not unfinished. More like something fully formed before everything else caught up. Built on instinct. Held by restraint.

About the album.
Released in 1992, Selected Ambient Works 85–92 is the debut album from Aphex Twin, the alias of Richard D. James. Recorded across several years, much of the material dates back to the mid-to-late 1980s.
Blending ambient textures with understated drum patterns, the album sits between electronic experimentation and early techno. Tracks like Xtal, Tha and Pulsewidth balance repetition with subtle variation, creating movement without excess.
Widely regarded as a cornerstone of electronic music, it set a foundation that would influence ambient, IDM and beyond.
