About the album.
Released in 2022 on Secretly Canadian, Cool It Down marked Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ first studio album in nearly a decade. Across eight tracks, the trio distil their sound into a leaner and more concentrated form.
The album balances atmospheric electronics with taut rhythm sections, maintaining the band’s angular foundation while introducing a more measured dynamic range. “Spitting Off the Edge of the World,” featuring Perfume Genius, sets the tone with widescreen tension, while tracks such as “Burning” and “Wolf” emphasise structure over sprawl.
