About the album.

Originally released in 1990, Goo is the sixth studio album from Sonic Youth. It was the band’s first album for Geffen Records and marked a wider breakthrough without losing the abrasive, experimental edge that had defined their earlier work.

Featuring Kool Thing, Dirty Boots, Tunic (Song for Karen) and Disappearer, the album brings together noise rock, alternative rock and art-punk with a sharper sense of song structure. Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley sound focused, restless and fully locked into their own world.

With its Raymond Pettibon cover art and collision of distortion, cool detachment and underground energy, Goo remains one of Sonic Youth’s most recognisable albums and a key record in the shift of alternative music into the 1990s
