About the album.

Originally released in 2024, The New Sound is the debut solo studio album from Geordie Greep, best known as the guitarist, vocalist and frontman of black midi. Released through Rough Trade, the album was recorded across London and São Paulo and expands Greep’s already theatrical sound into something broader, stranger and more rhythmically colourful.

Featuring Holy, Holy, Blues, Terra and The New Sound, the album moves through progressive rock, jazz, funk, samba, Latin rock and warped lounge-room drama. Lyrically, it leans into satire, desperation and exaggerated male characters, balancing technical precision with a sense of chaos that feels constantly on the edge.

Pressed on black 2LP vinyl and housed in a gatefold cover.
