About the album.

Treasure is the third studio album by Scottish group Cocteau Twins, released on 4AD in November 1984 and their first album with bassist Simon Raymonde, who had joined Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie earlier that year. The band recorded it across August and September 1984 at Palladium Studios in Edinburgh and Rooster in West London, and wrote and produced it. The track titles are single archaic and pseudo-mythological words, Ivo, Lorelei, Beatrix, Persephone, Pandora and the rest, chosen instead of anything drawn from the words being sung. The alternative rock and ethereal wave that 4AD became known for is at its most concentrated here, with Guthrie's layered guitar and Fraser's largely wordless vocals carrying the record. It reached number 29 on the UK albums chart and four of its tracks placed in John Peel's Festive Fifty for 1984. 23 Envelope handled the art direction, design, and photography. This pressing is remastered from the original analogue tapes.
