About the album.
Originally released in 2001, Three is the second studio album from John Butler Trio and the record that helped push the band from an independent Australian roots act into a much wider audience. The album includes Betterman, Attitude, Media, Money and Foundation, with Betterman becoming one of the band’s defining early songs.
Recorded at Studio Couch in North Fremantle, Western Australia, Three captures the trio’s early sound in full flight: acoustic guitar, blues, folk, roots, long-form grooves and socially conscious songwriting. The album won Best Independent Release at the 2001 ARIA Awards and remains a key part of John Butler Trio’s catalogue.
